San Antonio Ibiza 2027: area guide and where to stay

Few places on the Mediterranean have a reputation as vivid as San Antonio Ibiza 2027 style: a west-coast town where tens of thousands of visitors gather each summer evening to watch the sun drop into the sea, then head out to pool parties, bars and clubs until the early hours. Officially Sant Antoni de Portmany, the town sits on a wide bay on the opposite side of the island from Ibiza Town and the airport. It is the departure point for the island's best-known boat parties, home to O Beach, Ibiza Rocks Hotel, Eden and Es Paradis, and the gateway to some of the loveliest coves on the island, from Cala Gració on the edge of town to Cala Bassa and Cala Conta across the bay. It is also changing: regulations introduced since 2020 have reshaped the West End, and new venues have opened in the hills above the town.

San Antonio Ibiza 2027 at a glance: the bay and its districts

San Antonio curves around a large bay facing west. The town centre and the harbour sit at the northern end, with the promenade, the fountains and the departure points for the boats to the beaches and the boat parties. The West End, a dense grid of bars and clubs just behind the seafront, is the most famous and most boisterous part of town. North of the harbour, the coastline turns rocky, and this is where the Sunset Strip lines the shore, with its bars facing the horizon. To the south, the bay stretches towards Sant Antoni Bay, Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent, more residential and resort-like, with hotels, apartments and beach bars such as Kumharas on the bay and Tigre Morado at Port des Torrent. Inland, the hills of Benimussa above the town host 528 Ibiza. The whole town is walkable, but the bay is long, so check where your hotel sits before assuming everything is on your doorstep.

The Sunset Strip: San Antonio Ibiza 2027 at golden hour

The sunset is San Antonio's daily ritual, and it is free. Along the rocky northern shore, the Sunset Strip gathers bars with terraces facing the sea, where DJs play as the sky changes colour and the sun sinks behind the islets of the bay. Café Mambo opened its 32nd season with a party on 17 April 2026 and held its closing weekend on 16 and 17 October 2026, while Café del Mar, a name that has been synonymous with Ibiza sunsets for decades, reopened in April 2025 after a refurbishment for its 45th anniversary. On busy evenings in July and August, terraces fill up early, so arrive well before sunset if you want a seat, or simply sit on the rocks with the crowds. Mid-month sunset falls roughly between 21:20 in June and around 20:00 in mid-September, based on astronomical estimates, so evenings start later than many visitors expect. San Antonio Ibiza 2027 venues: pool parties and clubs in town

San Antonio has its own nightlife ecosystem, distinct from the superclubs of the south and the centre. O Beach is the town's flagship pool-party venue; in 2026 it held its opening party on 1 May and closed on 11 October, with weekly nights including Soul Heaven on Saturdays, Kisstory on Tuesdays and House In Paradise on Wednesdays. Ibiza Rocks Hotel runs daily pool parties with live acts and DJs; its pool club opened on 26 April 2026 and held its closing on 30 September 2026. Eden and Es Paradis are the town's two traditional nightclubs, with Es Paradis opening its season in early April in 2026 and Eden holding its closing party on 4 October 2026. In the hills, 528 Ibiza, opened in 2024 on the former Benimussa site and run by the Ibiza Rocks group, hosts open-air events, and the same group owns Pikes, the boutique hotel on the outskirts famous for its late-night club. Boat parties from San Antonio Ibiza 2027

San Antonio is the island's boat-party capital. The two big names in 2026 both left from the harbour area opposite the fountains in the centre of town. Pukka Up sailed three times a week, on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 2 May and 3 October 2026, with a pre-party at a bar in town before boarding and a cruise of about three hours along the coast at sunset; packages could add entry to O Beach or to club nights. Float Your Boat ran adult-only three-hour sunset cruises along the west coast, starting on Saturdays in May and adding Tuesdays from June, with drinks, DJs and a live percussionist on board. Remember that since 2024 the Balearic rules for the West End have barred party boats from approaching within one nautical mile of the designated area or picking up and dropping off passengers there, so always book a licensed operator. The 2027 dates have not been announced yet; our Ibiza boat parties 2027 guide explains how they work.

Beaches near San Antonio Ibiza 2027

One of the best things about San Antonio is its access to the west coast's coves. Cala Gració, about two kilometres north of town, is a calm, sheltered U-shaped bay with soft sand, and its neighbour Cala Gracioneta has a small beach club that opened its 2026 season in late March. Further north, Cala Salada is a protected bay with clear water, very popular and with scarce parking in summer, while next-door Cala Saladeta, reached on foot over rocky ground or by boat, has no facilities at all, so bring water and food. Across the bay, Cala Bassa offers fine sand and pine shade, and Cala Conta, a series of small coves separated by rock platforms, is one of the island's favourite sunset beaches. The easy way to reach both is by boat from San Antonio harbour, about 25 minutes to Cala Bassa and 40 minutes to Cala Conta, which avoids the car park that fills by late morning. Our Ibiza beaches 2027 guide covers them all.

Getting around from San Antonio Ibiza 2027

From the airport, the AERO1 bus reached San Antonio via Sant Josep in about 50 minutes in 2026, running every half hour from May to September and hourly in April and October, for 4.00 euros by card; a taxi takes roughly 25 to 35 minutes. At night, San Antonio is the starting point of the Discobus lines to the superclubs: D1 runs to Ibiza Port, stopping at [UNVRS], Amnesia and Pacha, and D3 runs to Playa d'en Bossa, stopping at DC10 and near Ushuaïa and Hï. They leave from the bus station area behind the Egg roundabout. In 2026 two clubs also ran free shuttles for ticket holders: Pacha from the Egg roundabout and [UNVRS] from the San Antonio bus station, while 528 Ibiza offered a shuttle from the bus station too. A taxi from San Antonio to the clubs of Playa d'en Bossa was reported at around 25 to 30 euros. Our guide to getting around Ibiza explains the night network.

Rules in the West End: San Antonio Ibiza 2027 essentials

Since January 2020, the West End has been one of a handful of Balearic areas covered by a special regime against excessive tourism. Within the zone, shops may not sell alcohol between 21:30 and 08:00, and promotions such as happy hours, open bars, two-for-one deals, self-service dispensers and organised pub crawls are prohibited. A 2024 amendment extended the ban on drinking in the street outside authorised terraces, with fines reported between 500 and 1,500 euros. According to the information available in 2026, the current text runs until 31 December 2027, so it should still apply next summer. In practice, the atmosphere has become more controlled than the town's old reputation suggests, and visitors who drink in bars and terraces rather than on the street have nothing to worry about. Respect the residents too: San Antonio is a real town with families, and noise in residential streets late at night is a source of tension. Our Ibiza tips 2027 page explains the rules.

Where to stay in San Antonio Ibiza 2027

Accommodation in San Antonio is generally more affordable than in Ibiza Town's marinas, Playa d'en Bossa's resort hotels or the villas of the south-west, which makes it popular with groups of friends and younger travellers. The West End and the streets behind the harbour put you closest to the bars, but they are noisy until late in summer. The Sunset Strip area offers sea views and evening atmosphere, while Sant Antoni Bay, Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent to the south are calmer and more resort-like, with pools and easy access to the bay's beaches. Ibiza Rocks Hotel combines accommodation with its pool parties, which is perfect for some guests and unsuitable for anyone hoping for a quiet afternoon. If you plan many nights at Ushuaïa, Hï or DC10, factor in the cost and time of crossing the island each night. Book early for July and August and check whether the tourist tax is charged on arrival.

San Antonio Ibiza 2027: frequently asked questions

San Antonio generates more questions than any other part of the island, partly because its reputation has changed so much in recent years and partly because it sits far from the superclubs that many visitors come for. The answers below reflect the town as it was during the 2026 season, including the regime for the West End, the new bus network launched in April 2026 and the venue calendars that ran through the summer. They will be updated once the 2027 programmes for O Beach, Ibiza Rocks, Eden, Es Paradis and the boat parties are confirmed, which usually happens in the months before the season opens in spring. For the bigger picture, our guide to the Ibiza season 2027 explains how the year is likely to unfold from the openings in late April to the closings in October, and when the first announcements for the new season are usually expected.

Is San Antonio Ibiza 2027 a good base for the superclubs?

It is a good base if you value sunsets, boat parties, pool parties and a lively town atmosphere, and if you accept that most superclub nights involve a journey. Amnesia and [UNVRS] are around twenty minutes away near Sant Rafel, and Ushuaïa, Hï and DC10 are on the far side of the island, roughly half an hour or more by Discobus or taxi. In 2026 the Discobus lines D1 and D3 left from San Antonio for the clubs, and free shuttles for ticket holders ran to Pacha and [UNVRS]. For a trip with one or two big club nights and lots of beach and sunset time, San Antonio works very well and often saves money on accommodation. For a trip built around four or five nights at the south-coast clubs, Playa d'en Bossa or Ibiza Town will save you hours of travel and a significant amount in taxi fares over the week.

When do the San Antonio Ibiza 2027 venues open?

Nothing has been announced for 2027 yet. As a reference, in 2026 Es Paradis opened in early April, Café Mambo opened on 17 April, Ibiza Rocks Hotel's pool club opened on 26 April and O Beach held its opening party on 1 May, while the boat parties started their regular sailings at the beginning of May. At the other end of the season, Ibiza Rocks closed on 30 September, Eden on 4 October, O Beach on 11 October and Café Mambo with a closing weekend on 16 and 17 October. If the 2027 season follows a similar pattern, San Antonio will be busy from late April to mid-October, with the liveliest period from June to September. Use the alert on this page to receive an email when the 2027 opening dates and line-ups for the town's venues are announced, along with the opening parties of the island's superclubs and the big residencies.

Is San Antonio Ibiza 2027 suitable for families or couples?

It can be, with the right choice of area. The West End and the streets around it are lively and noisy late into the night in summer, which suits groups of friends rather than families with young children. But the southern part of the bay, around Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent, is calmer, with resort hotels, pools and easy access to beaches, and the coves around San Antonio, such as Cala Gració and Cala Bassa, are lovely for families, especially in the morning before the crowds arrive. Couples will enjoy the sunsets, the boat trips to the western beaches and the restaurants of the area, as long as they choose accommodation away from the busiest streets. Travelling in June or September also makes a big difference, with warm sea and a noticeably calmer atmosphere than in August, when the town is at its most crowded, hot and expensive for accommodation.
