Ibiza sunset 2027: the best spots to watch it
Watching the Ibiza sunset 2027 is one of the few things on the island that costs nothing and that almost every visitor ends up doing, whether they came for the clubs, the beaches or a quiet week in the countryside. The west coast faces open sea, the sun drops behind small islets and rocky headlands, and the whole island seems to slow down for an hour. People gather on terraces, on rocks, on the sand and on boats, and in the busiest spots the sunset is almost a collective event, with applause at the moment the sun disappears. Even on a night when you have a club ticket in your pocket, the sunset is usually the part of the day people remember best, because it is the moment when the long, hot afternoon turns into evening and the island changes mood.

Ibiza sunset 2027: why the west coast is the place to be
Ibiza's geography makes the sunset easy to find. The island sits in the western Mediterranean, and its west coast looks out over open water, with the islets of Illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera just offshore and the famous rock of Es Vedrà further south. Because the sun sets behind the sea in that direction, the bay of San Antonio and the coves south of it are where most people go. The east coast, by contrast, sees the sunrise, which is lovely but rarely draws a crowd. The best sunset places fall into three types: bars and clubs with music and a drink, where you pay for the atmosphere; beaches and coves, where you bring your own picnic; and viewpoints, where you walk and wait. Which one you choose depends on whether you want a party, a swim or silence, and many visitors try all three across a week. The rest of this page takes them in turn.

Ibiza sunset 2027 on San Antonio's Sunset Strip: Café Mambo and Café del Mar
The Sunset Strip in San Antonio is the traditional home of the Ibiza sunset ritual. Café Mambo, which celebrated its 32nd season in 2026, held its opening party on Friday 17 April and its closing weekend on 16 and 17 October. Café del Mar, a few steps away, reopened in April 2025 after a refurbishment marking its 45th anniversary; its status for the 2026 season could not be confirmed, so check it is open before you build a plan around it. Both are about the drink, the DJ and the crowd, rather than the quiet, and the best positions go early, so arrive well before the sun touches the horizon. Prices are those of a popular bar, with a premium for the view. West End, the nearby nightlife district, has its own rules: in the designated zone, alcohol sales stop between 21:30 and 08:00, with the rules in place until at least the end of 2027, so check for renewal. Our San Antonio guide explains the area in full.
Ibiza sunset 2027 at Cala Comte: sand, rocks and Sunset Ashram
Cala Comte, also known as Cala Conta, is the beach most people picture when they think of an Ibiza sunset. It is a series of small coves with flat rock platforms, facing west over Illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera, and it has a bohemian atmosphere that is very different from the Sunset Strip. Sunset Ashram, a beach bar and restaurant on the cove, has been listed as open daily from 10:00 to midnight with a DJ and a Mediterranean, Indian and Japanese menu, but hours for 2027 are unverified, and booking is advisable for sunset. The practical problems are crowds and parking. The beach is roughly 15 to 20 minutes by car from San Antonio, the car park fills after about 11:00, and in July and August the road back is slow once the sun goes down. Come early, bring a picnic and water, or arrive by boat from San Antonio. Cala Comte is also one of the places on the island with a nudist area, so choose your spot accordingly.
Ibiza sunset 2027 from Es Vedrà: the viewpoints at Cala d'Hort and Cala Vadella
For a quieter evening, the southwest gives you a dramatic backdrop. Es Vedrà is the rock that rises out of the sea in front of the coast, and the best place to see it is Cala d'Hort, a small beach about 150 metres long with high cliffs behind it. Sunbeds, lifeguards and three seafood restaurants make it an easy place to spend the late afternoon, and booking is advised at weekends. Es Boldado sits on the cliff above and is reached by the road or a wooden staircase. The car park is unpaved, holds around 200 cars and is a ten-minute walk away. A popular alternative is Cala Vadella, a protected bay with a walking route to a viewpoint over Es Vedrà that people use at sunset. You will want sensible shoes and a torch for the walk back in the dusk. The legend that Es Vedrà is a magnetic place is a legend rather than an established fact, but the view is real.
Ibiza sunset 2027 in the north: Benirràs and the quieter calas
If you prefer your sunset with fewer people, the north has options. Cala Benirràs, near Sant Joan de Labritja, is a pebble beach in a bay with pine-covered hills on either side, and it is known both for its clear water and for its sunsets and drum circles. The day on which the drummers play is unclear in the sources I could check, so go for the light and treat any drumming as a bonus. There are small chiringuitos on the beach. Cala Xarraca nearby is a rocky bay with very clear water, and Portinatx, at the northern tip, has three small connected coves and a slow pace, although the sun sets less dramatically there than on the open west coast. The north is far from the main nightlife areas, so you will need a car or taxi, and you should allow time to get back before dark. Our North Ibiza guide gives more on where to stay.
Ibiza sunset 2027 from the south: Experimental Beach and Ses Salines
The south coast offers a different kind of sunset, over salt flats and a long horizon. At Cap des Falcó, on the Ses Salines salt flats, Experimental Beach opened its 2026 season on Friday 3 April, with hours from 13:00 to 23:00, a view toward Es Vedrà and a main sunset event around 20:30. It is more of a cocktail-and-dinner place than a rowdy bar, and it is the sort of venue where a table booked for the sunset hour is worth having. On Ses Salines beach itself, clubs such as Jockey Club and Sa Trinxa are popular for the evening; check their opening status for 2027. Parking at Ses Salines is a well-known headache in high season, so take the bus or a taxi. If you are staying in Ibiza Town, our Ibiza Town guide shows what is within easy reach, and our beach clubs guide covers the other sunset venues.

Ibiza sunset 2027 times by month: when the sun goes down from May to October
Sunset times change a lot over the season, and they affect when you eat, when you leave the beach and when the club night starts. These are my own astronomical estimates for the middle of each month in 2027, in local summer time, accurate to within about five minutes, so check a published almanac before you rely on them. In mid-May the sun sets at around 20:58. In mid-June it sets at about 21:20, in mid-July at about 21:19, and in mid-August at about 20:51. By mid-September it has moved to roughly 20:04, and by mid-October to about 19:17. Clocks go back on 31 October 2027, which pushes sunset to an hour earlier on the clock. In practice, plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before the stated time, because the light is best then and the best positions go early. Cooler evenings in May and October also mean a light layer is a good idea, especially at a breezy viewpoint. See also our season guide.
Ibiza sunset 2027 by boat: sunset cruises and party boats
A boat gives you the sunset without the crowds on the shore. In 2026, two well-known operators sailed from San Antonio: Float Your Boat ran an adult-only three-hour sunset cruise from around 18:00 to 21:00 on the west coast, with sangrias, a bar, DJs and a live bongo player, and Pukka Up sailed three times a week with a pre-party before boarding. Both are party boats rather than quiet cruises, so expect music and a crowd. Our boat parties guide explains how they work, what is included and how to board. If you want a calmer ride, short boat trips from San Antonio to Cala Bassa and Cala Comte have run in summer, taking roughly 15 to 40 minutes, but I could not verify their 2027 operation. Whichever you pick, bring a layer, because the sea air cools quickly after sunset, and check the weather forecast before you board. Remember that the standard minimum age for boat parties is 18, that sailings are weather-dependent, and that boarding times are strict, so arrive at the meeting point well before departure.
Ibiza sunset 2027: practical tips on timing, transport and the night that follows
A few simple habits make any sunset easier. Arrive early, because the best seats go first and the golden hour before the sun drops is often more beautiful than the moment itself. Bring water, sun protection and a light layer. Decide before you go how you will leave: taxis are scarce when everyone departs at once, buses may stop, and the roads out of Cala Comte and the Sunset Strip are slow. A new island bus network by Alsa started on 1 April 2026, and a Discobus network ran on D-lines in summer 2026, so check the timetable before relying on a bus. Think about what follows the sunset, too. If you are heading to a club, a sunset drink followed by dinner works well, and our getting around guide explains the options. Sunset is also a good moment to relax before the night starts: a slow evening makes a long night more enjoyable.
Ibiza sunset 2027: frequently asked questions
Visitors ask the same few things about watching the sunset, and the answers below are based on what was true in 2026 and on approximate astronomical times. Nothing has been announced for 2027 yet, so venue hours, opening dates and menus should be checked close to your trip. The basics do not change: the sun sets in the west, the best-known places are crowded in July and August, and early arrival is the single most useful tip. Many visitors combine a sunset with dinner, a beach day or a club night, and a smooth evening depends mainly on knowing how you will get there and back. If you are planning a longer trip, the monthly guides on this site compare weather, prices and crowds, and the alert on this page will tell you when the first 2027 announcements are made, usually between January and March. Until then, a good starting point is to decide which kind of sunset you want, from a lively bar to a silent cove, and to keep a little flexibility in your plans, because weather, crowds and traffic can all change the best choice on the day.
Where is the best place to watch the Ibiza sunset 2027?
There is no single best place, because it depends on the mood you want. For music and atmosphere, the Sunset Strip in San Antonio is the traditional choice, with Café Mambo and Café del Mar. For sand and a bohemian feel, Cala Comte is the classic, with views over the islets and bars on the cove. For the dramatic backdrop of Es Vedrà, go to Cala d'Hort or take the viewpoint walk from Cala Vadella. For quiet, try Benirràs in the north. Whatever you choose, arrive early, check opening status for the venue, and plan your journey home before the sun sets, because the roads and taxi ranks are busiest at that time. If you can, visit two different places during your trip, one lively and one quiet, so you can compare, and remember that the golden hour before sunset is often the best time for photographs, with softer light and fewer people than at the exact moment the sun goes down.
What time is the Ibiza sunset 2027 in July and August?
Based on my own estimates for the middle of the month, the sun sets at about 21:19 in July and about 20:51 in August, local summer time, with a margin of around five minutes. Those are among the latest sunsets of the season, which means evenings stretch out and dinner tends to start late. Because the exact minute shifts day by day, check a published almanac for your specific date, and arrive at least 45 minutes early to secure a place. In August the crowds at the best-known spots are at their largest, so booking a table in advance, where you can, is wise. After sunset, the sky stays light for a while, which helps you get home in the dusk. For a relaxed evening, choose a place with food, because lingering over dinner after the sun has gone is a lovely way to end the day. Remember that evenings can feel cooler by the sea, particularly in May and October, so bring a light jacket or shawl.
Can I book an Ibiza sunset 2027 table or sunbed in advance?
Yes, and in July and August it is a good idea. Many sunset venues accept reservations, for example beach bars on Cala Comte such as Sunset Ashram, where booking has been advised for sunset, or a venue like Experimental Beach on the south coast. Ask what the minimum spend is, how long the booking lasts, and what happens if the weather turns. Arrive on time, keep your confirmation, and expect that the most popular slots go first. On quieter weekdays in May, June or late September you may be able to walk in, but with less choice of seats. Free spots on public beaches and viewpoints, of course, never need a booking, just an early arrival. If you do book a table, ask whether you can choose a west-facing position, because the view is the whole point, and confirm whether the minimum spend can be used on food as well as drinks. A short message the day before is a sensible way to avoid surprises at the door.
