Ibiza Town 2027: area guide and where to stay
Most islands have a capital you pass through; Ibiza Town 2027 is a destination in its own right. Known in Catalan as Eivissa, it gathers almost everything that makes the island special within a few square kilometres: the walled old town of Dalt Vila, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999 together with the island's Posidonia seagrass meadows, a lively port lined with restaurants and boutiques, the ferries to Formentera, the main bus station, and two of the island's most famous nightlife addresses, Pacha and Chinois. Playa d'en Bossa, with Ushuaïa and Hï, starts just south of town, and the airport is only about 7 km away. For a first visit, or for anyone who does not want to drive, it is the most versatile base on the island, and it remains lively from spring to late autumn rather than only in high summer.

This guide explains how the town is organised, what each neighbourhood is like, how it connects with the clubs and beaches, and what kind of accommodation to look for. It is written for the 2027 season, which has not been announced yet: the club calendars, the summer bus timetables and hotel rates for next year will be confirmed over the coming months. The information below therefore uses the 2026 season as its reference, with real dates where they matter, and clearly signals anything that is still expected rather than confirmed. If you are comparing Ibiza Town with the other bases, read it alongside our overview of where to stay in Ibiza 2027, which sets out the pros and cons of each area for different kinds of trips.
Ibiza Town 2027 at a glance: how the capital is laid out
The town wraps around a natural harbour on the south-east coast. On the hill above the port stands Dalt Vila, the upper town, enclosed by Renaissance walls and crowned by the cathedral; its steep cobbled lanes, viewpoints and small squares are the historic heart of the island. Below the walls, the old port district of La Marina is a maze of narrow streets full of shops, bars and restaurants that fill up at dusk. Around the bay, newer districts stretch towards the marinas, the ferry terminals and the modern shopping streets of the centre. Just north of the harbour, the Ses Feixes area leads to Pacha and on to the bay of Talamanca, while to the south-west the town runs into Figueretes and then Playa d'en Bossa. Everything in the centre can be reached on foot, although the climb up to Dalt Vila is steep in the summer heat, so plan visits for the morning or the evening rather than the middle of the day.
Dalt Vila and the old port: the cultural side of Ibiza Town 2027
Dalt Vila is the place to start any stay. Its fortifications, among the best-preserved Renaissance defensive walls in the Mediterranean, are the main reason the island earned its UNESCO listing, and walking the ramparts at sunset gives some of the finest views over the harbour, the marina and, on clear days, Formentera. Inside the walls you will find quiet residential lanes, restaurants with terraces, small museums and the cathedral at the top. The old town also plays a role in the island's calendar: on 5 August, the feast of Santa Maria, Ibiza's patron saint, brings processions and celebrations, and in April 2026 the International Music Summit held its closing event in Dalt Vila. Below the walls, La Marina and the port come alive in the evening, with fashion boutiques, terraces and the famous street atmosphere. Wear comfortable shoes, carry water, and keep an eye on the time if you plan dinner up in the old town before heading out to a club.
Nightlife in Ibiza Town 2027: Pacha, Chinois and beyond
For nightlife, the town's anchor is Pacha, which opened here in 1973 and is one of the oldest clubs on the island. It stands on Avenida 8 d'Agost in the Ses Feixes area, just north of the centre, in a building inspired by a traditional Ibicencan farmhouse, with a main room and the smaller Pachacha room and a capacity of around 3,000. In 2026 its weekly programme included Solomun +1 on Sundays and Music On with Marco Carola on Fridays, and the season opened on 24 April and closed with a two-night grand closing on 10 and 11 October. Chinois, in the former Heart Ibiza space in town, opened in 2022 and hosted Defected every Thursday in 2026. Across the bay at Cap Martinet, Destino Five, part of the Pacha Group, runs open-air poolside parties. None of the 2027 programmes has been announced yet. Our guides to Pacha Ibiza 2027 and Chinois Ibiza 2027 give the full detail.
Ibiza Town is also the most convenient base for reaching the superclubs on the main road towards San Antonio. Amnesia and [UNVRS] stand near the village of Sant Rafel, roughly fifteen minutes away by taxi, and the night Discobus that runs from San Antonio to Ibiza Port stops at both clubs and at Pacha. In 2026 a new night loop linked Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza Town and Pacha during the main season, which made moving between the south-coast clubs and the capital easier. Taxis from the ranks in town are plentiful early in the evening but become harder to find at the end of the night in peak weeks, so plan your return. Many visitors use the town as a base for a varied programme: an afternoon party at Ushuaïa, dinner in the old town, then a night at Pacha or Amnesia, all without a car. That flexibility is exactly why Ibiza Town works so well for first-timers.

Talamanca and Figueretes: the beaches of Ibiza Town 2027
The town has two beaches within easy reach. Talamanca, a sheltered bay just north of the harbour and walkable from the marina, has calm, shallow water that suits children and swimmers who prefer a quiet sea, and a promenade of restaurants that includes Nobu, part of the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay. It combines a proper beach holiday with the ability to walk into town for dinner. Figueretes, immediately south-west of the centre, is a more urban beach neighbourhood with a promenade, and it is usually more affordable than the marinas. In summer the airport bus line that serves Playa d'en Bossa also stops in Figueretes, and on the night of Sant Joan, 23 June, it is one of the places where the town authorises traditional bonfires. Beyond Figueretes, Playa d'en Bossa is a short walk or bus ride away, and for the island's most famous beaches, such as Ses Salines and the coves of the west, you will need a bus, a boat or a car.
Getting to and from Ibiza Town 2027
Transport is one of the town's strongest points. From the airport, the AERO2 bus linked the terminal with the main bus station via the port in about 20 to 30 minutes in 2026, running every half hour all year, while the AERO3 express reached the port in around 20 minutes between May and mid-October; a taxi takes 15 to 20 minutes. The bus station is the hub of the island network, operated since April 2026 by Alsa, with lines to San Antonio, Santa Eulària, the north and many beaches, payable by card. The port is the departure point for the ferries to Formentera, with the fastest crossings taking about thirty minutes, and for the Aquabus that runs to Figueretes, Playa d'en Bossa and Formentera. At night, the Discobus connects the port with the superclubs and San Antonio. If you stay in Ibiza Town, you genuinely do not need a car, which saves money and avoids the limited parking around Dalt Vila and the centre in the evening.

Where to stay in Ibiza Town 2027: neighbourhoods and hotel types
Each part of town suits a different traveller. The streets around the port and La Marina put you in the middle of the action, which is ideal for nightlife and restaurants but can be noisy until late in summer. Rooms with views of Dalt Vila or the harbour are among the most sought-after on the island and priced accordingly. The marina areas and Talamanca tend towards upmarket hotels and apartments, with calm evenings and easy access to the beach. Figueretes offers more modest hotels and apartments, often better value, with the beach on the doorstep and the centre a short walk away. Close to Pacha, a hotel run by the club stands across the road, and its guests have been offered free entry to the club. Whatever the area, book early for July and August, check whether the tourist tax is charged on arrival, and look at the street layout before booking: some lanes in the old town are steep and not accessible by car, which matters if you arrive with heavy luggage.
Eating, shopping and daily life in Ibiza Town 2027
Ibiza Town is also where the island lives all year, which gives it a texture the resorts lack. Morning coffee on a terrace near the market, an afternoon in the boutiques of La Marina and an evening meal in the old town are as much part of a stay as the clubs. The island's traditional dishes, such as bullit de peix, a fish stew whose broth is used to cook rice, sofrit pagès, a hearty farmer's stew of meat and potatoes, and desserts like flaó, a cheese-and-mint tart, are served in some of the town's restaurants, and a local quality mark identifies places that cook traditional cuisine. After dinner, a glass of hierbas ibicencas, the island's herb liqueur, is a local custom. Prices around the marinas and on the most touristic streets are high, so explore the side streets and the residential districts for better value. Supermarkets in the centre make self-catering easy if you are staying in an apartment.
Ibiza Town 2027: frequently asked questions
Readers considering the capital as their base usually ask the same few questions: whether it is a good place for clubbing, whether it is too busy or noisy, and how it compares with the beach resorts. The answers below draw on the 2026 season, including the bus network launched in April 2026, the night buses that link the town with the superclubs, and the club calendars that ran through the summer. They will be updated once the 2027 programmes, opening dates and timetables are confirmed, which is expected from the first months of the year. If you are still undecided between areas, our detailed guides to Playa d'en Bossa, San Antonio and Santa Eulària describe the alternatives in the same format, and the opening parties guide explains how the season usually starts at the end of April, when the town fills up quickly and accommodation near the port becomes scarce.
Is Ibiza Town 2027 a good base for clubbing?
Yes, it is one of the best. Pacha and Chinois are in town, Playa d'en Bossa with Ushuaïa and Hï is a short taxi or bus ride away, and Amnesia and [UNVRS] are about fifteen minutes by taxi along the main road. The night Discobus connects the port with the superclubs and San Antonio, and in 2026 a seasonal night loop linked Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza Town and Pacha. The main advantage over a resort base is variety: you can combine afternoon parties, dinner in Dalt Vila and a club night without driving. The main drawback is that the walk home from the south-coast clubs is not practical, so you will take taxis or buses on those nights. If your trip is entirely focused on Ushuaïa, Hï and DC10, Playa d'en Bossa is slightly more convenient; for a mixed programme, Ibiza Town is hard to beat for practicality and atmosphere.
Is Ibiza Town 2027 too noisy to sleep?
It depends on the street. The port area and La Marina are lively until late in summer, with bars, restaurants and crowds, and rooms facing those streets can be noisy. Dalt Vila is generally calmer at night, although sound carries in narrow lanes, and the marinas, Talamanca and the quieter residential streets of the centre offer peaceful nights within walking distance of the action. Figueretes is a beach neighbourhood with a more relaxed rhythm than the old port. If sleep matters, choose a room facing an inner courtyard or the sea rather than a busy street, read recent guest reviews for comments about noise, and bring earplugs for the hottest weeks when windows stay open. Compared with the busiest parts of Playa d'en Bossa or San Antonio's West End in August, most of Ibiza Town feels calmer, which is one reason couples and mixed groups often prefer it as a base.
How do I get from Ibiza Town to the beaches in 2027?
Talamanca and Figueretes are within walking distance of the centre, and Playa d'en Bossa is reachable on foot or by a short bus or Aquabus ride. For the rest of the island, the main bus station is the hub: in 2026 the network operated by Alsa linked the capital with San Antonio, Santa Eulària, the north and many beaches, with card payment cheaper than cash. The Aquabus also connects the port with Figueretes, Playa d'en Bossa and Formentera, whose beaches are among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean and about thirty minutes away by fast ferry. For Ses Salines and the south-west coves, a bus or a car is the usual option, and parking near the famous beaches fills early in summer. Many visitors staying in town rent a car for one or two days only to explore the more remote beaches. Our Ibiza beaches 2027 guide lists the best options by area.
